<<—gets offered free Audi Ur-S4 (not this one, but green, mostly), and a cheap Ur-S6.
The last thing I need is more oldish German cars ruining my life, but damnit, that 5-cylinder turbo life keeps calling. Aargh. I love these cars. So now there’s the world’s nicest 5000 turbo for 3k, the nice 137k mile Ur-S6 for 3k, and/or the free Ur-S4 that’s ugly and needs work, all fallen in my lap at a time when I really can’t do any of it. This cannot go on. I can‘t make that decision! I want them alllll.

A nice car that costs 3000$ is usually less expensive than a free one lol

You know what else doesn’t cost nothing? Sitting in a free S4 and making “vroom vroom” noises

DO IT! BUY THEM ALL!

I’ve heard that parts, even maintenance parts, are becoming really difficult to find for the 5 cyl turbos. It would not surprise me that a few people are hoarding most of the parts, they are Audi owners after all.

We should start any Oppo fund for Oppos struggling with unique car addiction.
We just need someone attractive looking really sad and a soft female voice saying “For only $1 a day you could help an innocent OPPO struggling with automotive addiction.”

The only way you’ll come ahead on that free Audi is if you take it and sell it to a scrap metal dealer.

By ‘help’, you actually mean ‘enable’.

Nothing more expensive than a cheap Audi

This is true. I myself have quite a stash of 4000 quattro parts, in addition to a car. This would be nothing new, just more. And turbos.

*DOES IT!! GETS DIVORCED!!

I’m pretty good at 5cyl noises, hmmm

But if I contribute to that fund, how will I pay for my existing addiction? $365/year could cover a few cases of oil, maybe a tow bill...

It’s actually worth more in parts. Engine, trans, axles, lamp housings, seats, stuff like that.

True fact.
![]() 06/20/2017 at 23:41 |

Well then it’s time to put it on blocks in your front yard and start selling parts off of it...

Ugh well you see. Most of it gets transferred to an overseas account, very complicated stuff, my accountant would have to explain it.
We just buy you a membership to the Manhattan car club*
*The fund doesn’t cover travel to or lodging in Manhatten.

Can’t deny that noise! Step 1: Remove muffler.

That would be bad. The whole reason for selling my 325 last weekend was to pay off the loan on my wife’s Sienna. Getting another loan for a trio of troublesome turbos would be like an addict getting one for drugs.

cars are drugs.

Anyone that buys a car, new or old, ever in the history of buying cars should have that as Step 1. Tru fax

*drools thinking of S4* Dude, but free
*[explicit content removed]* But.... wagon yes?
![]() 06/21/2017 at 14:08 |

No, all sedans. They never made an Ur-S4 Avant, that was the S6, which we only got as a half-year car in 1995. One of those would be a lifetime keeper car for me. There would be no question of coming home with one in that case.
![]() 06/21/2017 at 14:12 |

I thought the S6 would be a wagon, shame, but still worth it. What years are they?

Too close for missiles Kinja, switching to guns text... :)

You either need an RS4 or RS6, stay clear of those fakers!

But these have turbo fives!
![]() 06/23/2017 at 01:57 |

If that’s your fetish get an RS2...
![]() 06/23/2017 at 02:34 |

I drove one! In New Zealand, 2002. Grail car. The closest I can get here is the S6 Avant, importing an RS2 would bankrupt me.
![]() 06/23/2017 at 04:14 |

The RS2? Awesome! I test drove an S2 with 400+hp. A lot of power but I wasn’t impressed. Mainly due to the handling.
![]() 06/23/2017 at 10:15 |
|
Yep, a gray RS2. Beautiful car. I didn’t get to test the handling, but I’ve driven a lot of B4s and they can be fun if you tweak them. I did a lot of the build on this car:
That one was a riot, but it took a lot of work to get it there. They’ll never handle like a BMW with the engine so far out front, but if you drive them in a late-apex, trail braking style they come alive. I wouldn’t be surprised if the wagons had better balance, with more weight on back.

This one only had a tweaked engine and bigger wheels. And the RS2 bumper up front. I did test the handling, it’s half the fun!
